Happy Birthday to You!

So yesterday was my birthday and I started it by opening the Bible to see what I could learn about the Lord. I picked up where I’d left off the day before by doing a little light reading in the book of Job. Job chapter 23 to be exact. At this point in the book Job has lost his herds and his children, his health, and his wife has advised him to curse God and die to end the suffering. In addition, his friends have come to offer comfort and counsel. They do this by telling him that that his suffering is his fault. Job is lonely and isolated and wants very much to talk to God because he knows God is a just God who sees his heart and will listen when people call out to Him

God, in His infinite wisdom, has chosen to hide Himself from Job for this brief time of trial and this is what Job says:

Job 23: 3 – 6 Oh, that I knew where I might find Him,
That I might come to His seat!
I would present my case before Him,
And fill my mouth with arguments.
I would know the words which He would answer me,
And understand what He would say to me.
Would He contend (or oppose me) with me in His great power?
No! But He would take note of me.

Job 23: 8 & 9 “Look, I go forward, but He is not there,
And backward, but I cannot perceive Him;
When He works on the left hand, I cannot behold Him;
When He turns to the right hand, I cannot see Him.

The hard truth is this: Our sin separates us from God. Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” and Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Praise God! He isn’t willing to leave us in that desolate state

Here’s the good news! We live in a time when God can be found. Now is the time to seek Him and turn your life to Him. How do you do that? In the gospel of John, Jesus explains the situation by saying:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16-18

Jesus further explains that the way to God is very narrow. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Dear Ones, don’t wait, but today, please do as Isaiah exhorts:

“Seek the LORD while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55: 6
