Building Faith – Sending Out – Sharing God
"When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus." - Acts 4:13

Pastor’s Time in the Word
Monday, May 14
“…as we pray most earnestly night and day that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking in your faith.” (1Thessalonians 3:10)
Are you an individual who is sought for wisdom or advice? Do you look for opportunities to be used in someone’s life in order to build up their faith? The apostle Paul prayed most earnestly that when he was with the church in Thessalonica he would be able to supply what was lacking in their faith. I take that to mean that he wanted to be able to answer their questions, give them godly advice, and then encourage them to press on in their faith. Oh, that all believers would be that ready to encourage and supply what might is lacking in someone’s faith. As a pastor, I need to be ready, often at a moment’s notice, to give advice, encourage, or answer tough questions. For that reason, I pray regularly for God to give me wisdom at a moment’s notice. I happened to be listening to a broadcast in which H.B. London was being interviewed. H.B. London is on staff with Focus on the Family as a minister to pastors. In fact, he has a show he hosts called “Pastor to Pastor.” On this day, instead of H.B. London doing the interview, he was the one being interviewed. The interviewer, knowing that H.B. had a wealth of experience as a pastor asked him what he would have done differently throughout the years as a pastor. He answered that he wished he had been wiser in advising people. The interviewer also asked how he thought he could have been wiser. To which H.B. replied, “I become wiser by being in the word, so I guess I wish I had spent more time in the word so I could have been more ready.” Great advice for all of us!
(I will be attending my son’s graduation from med school and thus I will not be blogging for the next week. Pastor Ron will occasionally blog in my absence.)
